The Alaska Department of Fish and Game says all king salmon angling, including catch-and-release fishing, will be banned on the 25-mile Karluk River

The minimum number of kings for four years have not reached upriver beds to spawn.

Kodiak area management biologist Donn Tracey says drastic action is needed.
